India has been providing financial and technical assistance to several African countries in various fields such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

India’s partnership with African nations has strengthened over the years, with India-Africa trade reaching over USD 80 billion in 2022. India has been actively involved in several peacekeeping missions in Africa, including in countries such as Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, and Liberia.

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia was established in 2007 to support the Somali Federal Government in its efforts to restore peace and stability in the country. The mission consists of troops from several African nations, including Uganda, Kenya, Burundi, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.

India’s contribution to AMISOM reflects its commitment to promoting peace and security in the African continent. It also highlights India’s growing influence and leadership in the international community.

In conclusion, India’s pledge of USD 2 million to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia is a significant step towards promoting peace and stability in the region. India’s partnership with African nations has been strengthened over the years, and this contribution is a testament to India’s commitment to supporting African countries in their quest for development and progress.
