The Punjab Police‘s recent operation to arrest Amritpal Singh and his associates, suspected Khalistani sympathizers, has caught the attention of intelligence agencies. To maintain law and order in the state, the Punjab government requested several companies of paramilitary forces, which have been deployed at various checkpoints and other locations.
According to a senior official, intelligence agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) are closely monitoring the situation and providing regular updates. They are also keeping an eye on social media posts, as several objectionable posts and memes related to the situation have been shared, possibly by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Amritpal Singh’s connections with Lakhbir Singh Rode, the chief of Pakistan-based International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), have also been brought to light. While in Dubai, Amritpal Singh was in close contact with Jaswant Singh Rode, Lakhbir Singh Rode’s brother. The agencies have received reports of Amritpal Singh receiving funds from Pakistan through his treasurer Basant Singh Daulatpura.
The Punjab Police have been monitoring Amritpal Singh’s activities since his arrival in the state last year. They have requested people to maintain peace and harmony, and not to spread fake news or hate speech. The police are working diligently to maintain law and order in the state.
